Nice property, clean, good breakfast
It was fine. The king suite was a good size. However. A fire alarm went off at 5 am and didn’t stop until 5:28 am. It was extremely disruptive and a bummer since we only had a one night stay.
Hotels.com listed suites that have 2 beds in one room, with sofa bed in the other room. When we arrived, they informed us the hotel did not have any such rooms, only rooms with 1 King bed or the alternative was a 2-bedroom suite. We needed that so they upgraded us, thankfully. Unfortunately, our suite was not very clean and one bathroom had not been thoroughly cleaned at all - toothpaste still in the sink, hairs on the floor, some gross looking spots and stains on the walls, carpeting in one room had crumbs all over. The windows were filthy. It was extremely noisy outside at night, probably due to the pub nextdoor. Rowdy drunks howling at night, loud trucks driving by, etc. Very unpleasant compared to other Homewood Suites we have stayed in (Clinton, NY, San Diego, CA, etc.) Hotels.com needs to make certain the information they publish is accurate and reliable.
Our stay at the Homewood Suites in Downtown Hartford was perfect for a 1-night stay for a concert at the XL Center. The hotel is literally RIGHT next to the XL, making it super convenient for anyone attending an event there.
The staff was friendly, and check-in took less than 3 minutes. On site parking for $16/night.
The hotel itself is pretty outdated, but clean. Our room had a full-size fridge, kitchenette, table, couch, etc. Full suite setup. Elevators a bit small and rickety. Only ice machines on the floor (no vending/drink machines). Hallway smelled like old cigarette smoke. Perhaps stuck in the carpets and wallpaper.
Hotel dining was underwhelming: no dinner service on the weekends and no hotel bar. We had trouble getting in anywhere to eat before the show, so we were going to resort to the hotel service, to no avail. Breakfast only served until 10am on the weekend as well.
Very helpful staff at front desk and in the buffet area.
