하쿠치 온천 고니시 료칸

I loved my stay here. Other reviews say it is "dated" but I think that is the wrong attitude. Being here is like stepping back in time, before everything went electronic. There is even a rotary telephone in the room, and I dialed it just to bring back the memories of my childhood. I travel alone as a woman and felt safe and welcome. My room had an amazing view over the river and to the mountains. I was able to enjoy it from the tatami area as well as from the wood-floor chairs directly in front of the window. There is an hourly bus from Miyoshi-shi (not far from Awa Ikeda station) that dropped me off in front of the ryokan. For my departure, I just walked a few minutes to catch the bus to Oboke station. There is a shared refrigerator and a microwave oven, so I brought food for lunch and dinners.

노부부의 환대가 즐거웠습니다. 조용하고 아름다운 마을 풍경도 좋아 아침 산책 다니기에 훌륭했습니다.
