Motel6 Washington, DC - Convention Center

While this is a Motel 6 it is setup like a hotel. No incidental or dog fees. Whole Foods and Starbucks are not far away.

This motel has some shady characters around it at night. The staff is never at the desk and there is always a several minute wait for anyone to show up. Many basics that are normally assumed to be available are not (hairdryer, luggage rack, shampoo & conditioner, toothpaste, etc). At times the unreliable wifi will just cut off internet access completely and almost at random. Also the staff may enjoy watching television in your room while you are out (don't leave any valuables behind as there is no safe). The lighting in the bathroom is awfully dim and the ventilation is terrible so it probably gets damp and moldy in there. The towels have permanent marker scribbles on them so be careful when drying off so as not to get black marker on you. The doors which connect directly to outside are not properly sealed so there are giant light gaps and plenty of space for creepy crawlies to make their way in. It might be advisable to bring a sleeping bag and sleep on top of the sheets as well. It's still a step up from sleeping in a tent, but it still costs wayyy more than it should. I am starting to think a hostile might even be a better option for getting your money's worth in terms of service and comforts, since security doesn't feel much better here...
