26.05.03Honestly it is the dingiest hotel I have stayed at in a while. If they spent hte money just to replace the carpet in the whole place I think it would be a significant upgrade. Otherwise it is the cheapest you will find in Beverly Hills. Beds were clean and decent. Rooms small, noisy area. They have a lot of nickel and dime fees if you have more than one person or if you want late check out, etc. I guess you get what you pay for, but I have paid less for more up-kept places. Like I said, replace the carpet and then it is a passable old hotel.
26.04.28I arrived ten minutes before the check-in time of 3pm. I tried to ask the front-desk employee if I could drop off a toiletry bag and return later with my luggage to check in well past 3pm, but the employee immediately interrupted me because she erroneously assumed that I was trying to check in early. "I can't talk to you until three!" she said in a demanding tone. I tried again to explain to her what I had just tried to communicate but she ignored me. Interestingly, even though she would not allow me to talk to her at 2:50pm because that was before 3pm, she felt free to speak to me to ask a question before 3pm. I called Agoda, which then called the problematic employee regarding my request that the hotel cancel my reservation. According to Agoda, the hotel's policy was that I would have to "eat"the first night's payment but could have the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th nights refunded to me. I told the front-desk employee that as I would have to pay the first night anyway, I would stay that night and check out the next morning. She had no problem with that, but the next morning, another employee told me that I would be charged for two nights rather than just one. I called Agoda again and had a manager on speaker while I spoke to the front desk employee, but she said to the Agoda manager and I that she would not speak to us! Agoda overruled the hotel's slight of hand in charging two nights rather than just one as agreed when I had checked in, and I was concerned that the unethical hotel management might try to take the second night out of the incidentals/damages deposit. With Agoda on speaker phone, I asked the front desk employee for a receipt showing a zero balance on the pre-authorized deposit, but that employee refused, which Agoda's manager and I, a former auditor, flagged as possibly indicative of an intent to use the preauthorized deposit to charge me for the second night.
