This was my splurge for the trip and it did not disappoint. Lovely staff and location. The private reserve onsen was amazing and so was the public one. Had access to the 9 public onsens as well, I only visited a couple. Super easy to get from the station to the onsen, like a 5 minute bus. The snow monkeys were also super fun to see and only 5-10 mins away by bus! Probably my favourite stay from my trip!! Highly recommend this sensational ryokan!

We stayed at a few ryokans and yumoto was the least nice of all of them but not significantly cheaper. There was no bathroom in our room (shared bathroom across the hall). They did have a fantastic private outdoor onsen (large and beautiful). They didn't have dinner the one night we stayed with them and it's quite difficult to find other food in Shibu onsen. We left before breakfast, so didn't get to eat with them. Overall, not a terrible experience, but we were slightly disappointed.

My stay at Yumoto Ryokan in Shibu Onsen was truly excellent. From the moment I arrived, everything was beautifully organized and thoughtfully prepared. The owner was absolutely lovely — kind, welcoming, and attentive to every detail. The ryokan offers an authentic traditional Japanese experience, with charming tatami rooms and a peaceful atmosphere. Walking through the historic streets of Shibu Onsen in a yukata and visiting the nine public baths was a highlight. The onsen itself was exceptional — relaxing, clean, and perfectly maintained. After long days of exploring, it was the ideal place to unwind. You can really feel the care and dedication behind this property. I highly recommend Yumoto Ryokan to anyone looking for a genuine and high-quality stay in Shibu Onsen. I would gladly return.

This Ryokan exceeded all of our expectations! The staff are extremely helpful and hardworking, they go out of there way to ensure you are comfortable! Amazing food and onsite site Onsen ! A must stay.
