하루모토 호텔

On a sudden whim, I visited Nikko for the first time. I wanted to see Nikko Toshogu Shrine, and since I was driving, I was looking for a place that was close by and had parking. Lately, I’ve been making a point of staying at long-established ryokans and hotels with traditional, charming Japanese interiors—partly as a way to support them and hope they’ll continue to thrive. This place really had the feel of a traditional ryokan and was lovely. It had a Japanese-style room, shared toilets, and a bath. The bath was a hot spring and was available 24 hours a day, which was very convenient. It was a relatively small bath, but that actually added to the sense of history and was nice. For an additional fee, you could also use the hot spring at the hotel across the street, which is part of the same chain. The staff were all very kind and told me about Nikko. They also said I could leave my car in the parking lot until around noon the next day. They told me there was a famous Chinese restaurant nearby, so I went there. It was delicious!! The room was a Japanese-style room… I think it was about six tatami mats in size. The way the tatami mats were laid out felt a bit off, so when I looked closely, I realized that what might have originally been a sunroom-like veranda had also been covered with tatami mats. They’d renovated it that way to make the room feel more spacious. There were signs of condensation on the walls, and it was a bit moldy. Depending on the room, it might have been renovated a bit more and looked cleaner. Still, the tatami mats were new, so the overall impression was clean. Apparently, the food is delicious, but I messed up by booking a room-only stay through Agoda. I should have ordered meals as well. I decided to stay with meals included next time. 急に思い立って初めて日光に行った。日光東照宮に行きたかったのと、車だったので近くて駐車場がある所を探していた。最近は長く続いて残っていって欲しいという応援の意味も込め、古く風情ある日本風の内装がある老舗の旅館やホテルに泊まるようにしている。 こちらは本当に昔からの旅館って感じで素敵だった。和室、共同トイレと風呂。お風呂は温泉で24時間入れてとても便利。割と狭い風呂だが、それも歴史を感じられて良い。 お金を払えば、お向かいの同系列のホテルの温泉も入れる。 スタッフの人は皆親切で、日光のことを教えてくれた。駐車場も翌日昼くらいまでは大丈夫と言ってくれた。 近くの中華料理店が有名らしく、教えてもらったので行った。とてもおいしかった！！ 部屋は和室…確か六畳だったと思う。畳の敷き方に違和感があったので、良く見ると、元々サンルーム的な縁側だったかもしれない所も畳になっていた。そんな感じのリノベーションをして部屋を広くしていた。 壁は結露の跡があり少しカビていた。部屋によってはもう少しリノベーションされて綺麗なのかもしれない。 でも、畳は新しく全体的に綺麗な印象。 どうやらお料理が美味しいらしいが、アゴダから素泊まりを予約してしまったのでミスった。お食事も頼めば良かった。 次は食事込みで泊まろうと思った。
