Starting with the staff, they are lovely, welcoming and genuinely helpful. Unfortunately, the hotel itself needs demolishing and rebuilding. We’d arrived from Thailand in Bali only to spend a long while wondering if the place actually existed as it’s hidden down a narrow alley buzzing with motorbikes. First impressions good with cottage-style rooms down a pretty garden path. Then we opened the door. The mosquito net had mould, there was a connecting door we couldn’t lock which put me on edge, no chair for the desk, and just one plug socket which meant sacrificing the bedside lamp if you wanted to charge your phone. And then… the bathroom. A gloomy dungeon. With large ants and one big cockroach we couldn’t get rid of. The drain was clogged, and a small indoor paddling pool formed on the floor. We were beyond relieved to check out this morning. Thankfully, Ubud itself is gorgeous and we wont let this ruin our stay.
