26.02.23The New Fortunate House unfortunately had a poor check-in experience. Upon arrival, we were transferred to another room, which was not clearly explained to us. We were also made to wait outside their reception door for around 20 minutes before being accommodated.
After a long day of travel, this was quite inconvenient and unprofessional. I hope the management improves their coordination and customer service, especially during check-in, to avoid similar situations for future guests.
26.01.22 My boyfriend and I spent one night at this guesthouse.
Generally, the room was of decent size and clean with no cockroaches or any other insects. There was also a drinking machine in the lobby. Yet, there was no staff after 11pm, so if you need to check in after that time, you've gotta pay an additional HK$200 fee.
With everything else being great value for money, I found a staffer on the phone to be pretty rude. Since my boyfriend wanted to get more sleep before checking out, I phoned the number displayed on a wall in the lobby to ask if we could check out before 1pm, only to get yelled at by a vulgar South Asian man, who shouted, "The latest time for check-out is 10:30 am!! Is that clear!? Don't call me again!!"
I guess if you can put up with such an ill-tempered staff or do not plan to contact any staff there, you can stay at this guesthouse, which my partner and I highly recommend for everything else.
