Free wifi, late checkout (11 am, extendable to noon), great workspace desk, large room, warm controllable heating & fab bath which fills up fast. Has had a partial makeover in public areas & my room was newly decorated but slightly unfinished where radiator is boxed in. Liked the tiled entrance area; keeps footprints off the carpet ! V. comfortable bed, I had the sleep of the righteous in Storm Eunice ! Great town centre location but also v. quiet, with CCTV / floodlit hidden car park under the hotel (£4.60 for 24 hours, simple smartphone app. Or 24 hour tel. line), walkable from both stations. Issue with non working TV (no channels installed & it wouldn’t reset), fixed on the day while I was out. One curtain has worn edge and there was a cobweb on the aircon but hey ho easily missed & fixed, & I only paid £33 / night on Agoda site, including 2 weekdays which are usually busier than weekends here. Liked the space & the 70’s style bathroom tiling (& the large heated rail under the sink), and larger than usual TV screen. It’s now being run like a fast turnover travelodge / premier type inn, there is public seating & a courtyard (& bookable meeting room), but they do not do evening food or breakfast anymore. You get a 10% off voucher for breakfast at cafe 5 doors away - large, modern & child-friendly; open 7:30 am to 7 pm, but NOTE it’s not open till 9:00 at weekends (butchers shop next door does takeaway breakfasts so you’re no worse off than at most travelodge / premier type hotels nowadays, v. few now have restaurants). The staff are mostly young and all I talked to were really thorough & helpful. I was visiting family & friends, going to a gig in Nottingham & doing the heritage railway - excellent centre for 2-3 days. They let me leave car there after I’d checked out, as my last 24 hours expired at 10 pm.

Room was not clean at all; hairs in the bed, dead flies, makeup on the dressing table and filthy bathroom sink. Didn’t sleep at all due to radiator ticking all night and dripping sound. Having a knock door run at 4:10am didn’t help. Tried calling reception a number of times but no answer until I called from my personal phone (I only needed pillows but if it was an emergency then it would be too late). Staff on check out was rude and didn’t ask about the stay. Definitely won’t be staying again regardless of price or location!

Lovely and clean but certainly needs a revamp. Curtains falling apart, paint peeling off, and no safety catch on window. Restaurant and bar not open, and no milk for tea/coffee in room.
