26.05.06We found this place clean, comfortable, affordable and safe, with friendly staff. No units touch one another physically so it is quiet too. I believe the owners live on site, and it is possible there are some long term residents there too.
26.04.21While acknowledging we booked through a third party provider, upon check in, we were given one queen bed when our original booking requested 2 beds. I could prove the booking via confirmation email. When approaching the staff asking to rectify the situation, we were only given the option to pay a ridiculous upcharge, including an in-house 15% additional tax per night. It felt like they were taking advantage of the situation rather than trying to accommodate. The continental breakfast looked like 2 stale containers of weeks old cereal and bagels that have been sitting out for days. That's it. The rooms themselves felt clean enough, but the property is definitely outdated. The parking lot is too small to accommodate even a pickup. There's no way to get in and off the property easily as we did Uber one evening. The flashing horror movie style flickering light of the parking lot only added to the "ambiance." We were delightfully woken one morning by the owner screaming at someone to move his pickup because it wasn't parked in an appropriate parking spot, even though one didn't exist. The only good thing I have to say about this place is it was close to downtown, the water was hot, and the water pressure was fantastic. Otherwise? At ****/night (or more) save your money & look elsewhere.
26.04.19Room was clean enough but the bed is going to mess up your back.
26.03.23Very clean hotel, centrally located near downtown Napa.
25.10.25The Napa Discovery Inn offers a collection of efficient, no-frills rooms conveniently located near both downtown Napa and nearby retailers. There’s ample parking, and I appreciated that the owner appears to live on-site, which was reassuring when I arrived late in the evening.
The rooms are non-smoking and pet-free, helping maintain a fresh and clean environment. My room was tidy, and overall cleanliness was excellent. The bed was quite firm, which may not be ideal for side sleepers; a simple mattress topper could make a big difference in comfort. The linens were on the coarse side, but still serviceable.
Temperature control is handled by a heater/AC combo unit that functions well, though it’s positioned directly above the bed—something to be aware of if you’re sensitive to airflow while sleeping. The in-room amenities include a mini fridge and microwave, both convenient for longer stays. I would recommend replacing the small plastic cups with paper ones, as plastic isn’t microwave-safe.
The bathroom was functional and clean, though I’d suggest cracking the window while showering for ventilation. The biggest area for improvement would be the shower head, which provides very low water pressure. Upgrading to a modern, higher-pressure shower head would significantly enhance the guest experience without much expense.
Overall, the Napa Discovery Inn is a practical and affordable option for solo travelers looking to enjoy the beauty and wineries of Napa Valley. It’s not a luxury property, but with a few thoughtful updates, it could easily become a highly recommended stay for budget-conscious visitors.
