I was hesitant to book this place after reading some of the reviews, however after trying this place out, I'd say it's not a bad place to stay if you're here for one or two nights and looking to save some money. The place looks like it's been in operation for al long time and may have had a group of vikings staying over recently. However, if you just want a simple bed (I stayed in the dorm style rooms) and a place to shower, then this place could accommodate you. You want a more up-keep place, you should consider another. What made the difference however is the really kind receptionist. She had a positive attitude and a smile each time. The rooms and bathroom were functional. Sometimes they ran out of tissue paper. They're able to watch your luaggage before check in and after check out. I'd say 4 stars, factoring in the value for your money and the convenient location.

The wall is super thin that you can hear the shower and ppl next door. The shower room is dirty and the bathroom is somewhat narrow and hard to use. You only get a locker and a bed. The room is also dirty as I live in the upper bunk and the ceiling is full of spider web. The staffs are nice and friendly.

I go up to Taipei quite frequently and have stayed at many hostels around Taipei Main. This was, by far, my most uncomfortable hostel experience yet. Firstly, the sleeping space is small and cramped, even for hostel standards. There is no privacy curtain. There are no toiletries (towel, slippers, toothbrush, etc.) despite it being included in the amenities!!! They give you sheets, but you need to put everything on yourself. The sheets I got also had many holes and rips in them. Regarding shared spaces, the bathrooms were not very clean. There was no toilet paper in most of the stalls. The common space in the lobby was small, but the space felt unusable due to people leaving their luggage anywhere and everywhere. Overall: the location is great (next to exit 8 of Taipei Main), but that is literally the only positive. Yes it is cheap, but you can find comparable prices at other hostels that are significantly more comfortable to stay in. Do yourself a favor and look to stay somewhere else.
