26.05.11Daishinbo was a wonderful place to stay. Local to all of the hikes and shrines at the base of Mt. Haguro, it is an excellent place to spend the evenings after a day of exploring.
The Shōjin ryōri meals were unique and delicious for every breakfast and dinner, offering energy for the day and a taste of the local ingredients. Before breakfast, join the morning prayer paying respects to the local mountain kami for well wishes. After dinner, take a rejuvenating soak in the shared hot bath before tucking into bed.
Be sure to walk to the local temples for a lesson on yamabushi training and mountain asceticism, and check out the local cultural center for maps, a museum, and information on the history and culture of Dewa Sazan.
We highly recommend a stay if you are interested in nature, history, and/or excellent food!
