Stayed at The Chequers for a couple of days whilst attending an event at the race course. Staff are great especially the guy in the bar/restaurant, couldn't do enough for you. Room are a little basic but fine and clean so no complaints given the value of the hotel. Would definitely stay there again if I needed to be in Newbury

The hotel is an interesting old building, room was comfy although dated and bathroom needs re/doing. We ate in the hotel restaurant, but they had run out of steak and pies which surprised us as they must have known how many guests had booked for the Bank Holiday weekend. Staff were friendly and very apologetic about having run out of things on the menu. All in all, would stay again as an over nighter

It's clean and comfortable to stay in.

I enjoyed my stay in the hotel! The room is clean and the staff is lovely. The hotel is quite close to the city centre too.

Breakfast is good. Staff is friendly and room is tidy.
