Metro Mirage Hotel Newport

The best thing is the staff, all of the staff. Next nautical location with revamped rooms.

After 5 days in Sydney CBD, heading out to Newport was a welcomed break. Silkari Newport was a beauty find, when we arrived early we were welcomed, our luggage was held for us until our room was ready in 1 1/2 hrs we were directed to the cafe across the road which was scrumptious. Easy downhill walk into Newport proper, where anything you would need is there. Back to the hotel is a uphill walk nothing to strenuous at all. The hotel it's self, spotless room, hot water, proper water pressure, comfy bed, spacious room, small balcony with no where to sit outside (that's ok, it was a little overcast on our 2 night stay) staff were very friendly, offering up ideas if needed ensuring your stay was up to your expectations. Two minor minor MINOR points. The new shower doors do not have any seals around them so you will soak the bath matt, ensure you have it down. The shower door when opened towards the toilet, will hit the toilet and if someone was to do that with an unnecessary amount of force the door would smash, a simple piece of foam on the side of the toilet or the shower door would solve that problem. Or just get used to opening the shower door into the shower. MINOR The other issue which I'm not sure if it's a hotel problem or a listing problem to do with Agoda, is regarding a 'lake view ' room which we decided to pay slightly more for thinking oh a small upgrade . There is no lake view, yes sure you can see if your on the balcony lean out and look through the foliage. The orientation of the hotel in regards to the lake a full lake view would be pretty darn hard. Save your money the views will pretty much all be the same. When we brought that up at reception the price showing in their system was all the same. If your looking for a peaceful get away from Sydney or just a lovely hotel in Newport I would highly recommend Silkari Newport, or any Silkari for that matter as we have stayed at others and have never been disappointed

It was a beautiful room overlooking the bay....across the road from a fabulous outdoor restaurant and boat wharf at the bottom of the street- very convenient if your boating. *****
