26.01.16Beautiful room. Very relaxing and peaceful onsen. Quiet and relaxing, and the nonsmoking rooms are truly nonsmoking—not a hint of smoke anywhere. The staff is very kind and friendly and was so helpful! Amazing value for the price. I enjoyed my stay thoroughly.
25.12.17We adored this place. The staff were so lovely and helpful and even gave us a few rides to town which was so helpful. The breakfast was delightful and they offered the option of eating at 7, 7:15 or 7:30. They offer dinner aswell but we ended up eating in town at Okuya, which was fantastic, after our daily walks.
The room was spacious and clean and they had super warm, cozy, fluffy blankets. The Onsen was dated, yes, but very clean and spacious and, upon inquiry, they allow folks with tattoos.
This area is stunning with the crystal clear turquoise water and beautiful walking trails. We would totally stay here again.
25.11.02Except for the food and the server (the only nice person there), I would not recommend this hotel to either Japanese guests or foreigners. The front desk staff were particularly cold and unprofessional. The facilities are old, the onsen is not very pleasant, and although the room was clean, the futon was uncomfortable. Overall, it was overpriced for what it offered—especially considering that other hotels in the area provide much better and warmer service.
25.10.20Really quiet location with pleasant views. For a family traveling by car through the Kiso valley and wanting to enjoy the stunning views of Japan's mountains and valleys, while experiencing more a authentic inn, this place was perfect. For foreign travelers be aware the rooms do not have their own bathrooms, but the hot spring bath was clean and never crowded. The toilets are close to the rooms and there was never a wait. The breakfast was traditional fare, fish, egg, rice, assorted vegetable side dishes and miso soup. It was not included with our room but available if reserved on check-in. The staff was accomodating and did their best to make the stay an exceptional experience. I would definitely stay here again.
25.10.17Staff were so wonderful and went above and beyond. Nothing fancy it's like stepping back into the 90s which we loved. Tatami mat and futon on the floor. We loved it, and Atera valley is so special. Great location.
