This guesthouse is in a very typical Japanese style, allowing you to fully experience Japanese tatami mats. The location is also excellent, very close to the Utoro Onsen bus stop.

I booked this hostel only two days before arrival. Shortly after booking, the property sent a long message with several strict conditions that were not clearly highlighted during the booking process. For example, they explicitly state that guests who snore should refrain from staying, because the rooms are shared dormitories. Since I do snore a little, I realized there was a real risk that I could be refused accommodation after arrival. Because of this, I cancelled the reservation about two hours after booking and submitted a waiver request explaining the situation. Unfortunately, I never received a response from the property. The booking was ultimately cancelled on the day of arrival with no refund due to the strict no-cancellation policy. I understand that dormitory accommodations require certain rules for shared spaces, but these kinds of restrictions (such as snoring or perfume use) should be very clearly communicated before booking, as they can easily affect a guest’s eligibility to stay. Future guests should read the house rules very carefully and be aware that even cancelling shortly after booking may not result in a refund.
