Gableview Forest Inn

Lovely accommodation and beautiful location. There are also, few nearby restaurants within walking distance (within 1 km , 20-30 minute walk). The hosts Liz and Satoshi-San were very nice. The breakfast and dinner Satoshi-San served (pre-book at least 7 days in advance) were out of the world. I definitely will go back to visit.

We had a wonderful stay at Gableview Forest Inn. It is a beautiful place up the hill and away from the crowds in Tobu Nikko. Our room was cozy with a loft for my son and daughter-in-law and a double bed for me with a full bath. The owners are very friendly and helpful with shared information on things to see and how to find them. We ate a delicious dinner and breakfast the first night and morning and then ate in Nikko the next days. The hot tubs are great and reserved for your room (good for people not use to disrobing with strangers 🤣). We walked up to the inn the first day thinking the distance was not that far .... So, not far but quiet away up hill. I would recommend a taxi. The owners were kind enough to drive us down to town both mornings and taxis were easy to get at the train station for the next to trips back up. I really enjoyed my stay at the Inn.

We had an absolutely lovely time at Gableview Inn. Elizabeth helped us figure out our plan each day and helped us out with transportation (getting from the train station to the hotel can be tricky late at night when there are few taxis, which is really your only option if you don't have a car). Satoshi made fantastic food meal after meal, and even accomodated food allergies with a full separate meal. The private onsens were beautiful, well kept, and so relaxing. The rooms were huge and all beautifully decorated. Elizabeth and Satoshi provided umbrellas, salt for leeches, and great tea and snacks on the days we were headed in and out. We even saw a monkey from the window! English is not an issue at all either, we had great conversations and lots of laughs. Overall, we highly recommend Gableview, it's the perfect place to come back to after a day of sightseeing or hiking. Thank you Elizabeth and Satoshi!

We loved our stay in Nikko and a good part of that was the great hosts at Gableview Forest Inn. So accommodating of our needs as a large family group, our dietary needs and so forthcoming with recommendations in the National Park that we would not have found if not for their suggestions. Thank you and hope to return in the future!

Highly recommended place. Very friendly and accommodating host. If you stay here, you should really consider availing there dinner and breakfast. It was one of the best foods we had in our entire Japan vacation and was totally worth the price.
