This hotel is excellent, with a great location within walking distance of Nanjing Road. The staff are very friendly and provide great service. The room is clean, the atmosphere is pleasant, and you can see the Oriental Pearl Tower from the hotel. I highly recommend this hotel.

Overall, the location is great—just about a 10-minute walk to Nanjing Road. 5min drive to Yu Garden. The facilities, including the gym and pool, are also good. However, the breakfast experience was disappointing. The spread was below expectations, and the staff came across as unfriendly and quite rude. Even the lobby bellman didn’t assist with our luggage while we were clearly struggling with a baby—just stood there watching. At the breakfast restaurant, service was poor as well; we were expected to find our own table, which felt more like a food court than a 5-star hotel. Honestly, it’s the first time I’ve experienced something like this at that level. Thankfully, we had club lounge access, which completely turned things around. We chose to have breakfast there instead, and it was excellent. The Chinese chef was warm and welcoming, clearly taking pride in his cooking—he made one of the best omelettes I’ve ever had. The lounge staff were all polite and attentive, making the experience much more enjoyable. If you’re planning to stay at the Westin, I’d definitely recommend getting club lounge access. The free-flow drinks, snacks, and overall service make it well worth it.

- slow check in process - old 5 stars hotel - staff’s attitude not very friendly - surroundings no variety and nice food - less happenings compared to hotels nearby people’s square - too far for old folks to walk to Nanjing road pedestrians street. - not very close to Yu Yuan metro station and Yu Garden. About 10-15 mins walk. - Around 8-10 mins walk to The Bund.
