25.08.16Close proximity to a lot of sites you will want to see in the city. Beautiful views of the city. I suggest you upgrade to the apartment style as it provides ample space for a family. 1st Time in NYC where I didnt want to immediately get out of a cramped room.

25.01.22Fifty Sonesta is well located with two subway stations close by. Always like to stay close to a station in NYC, especially after a long day of sightseeing.
Staff could put in more effort - reception staff seemed a bit robotic, a smile would have been welcomed. One of the two doormen, was great. The other not so - he couldn't even be bothered taking his hand out of his pocket to properly open the door for us. Just used his elbow to do so which I thought was unprofessional. Housekeeping were wonderful and the front of house staff could learn a lesson from them.
Room was a convenient size for our family. It has a small kitchenette, however no proper exhaust, so of course the fire alarm went off and was advised to open all windows for ventilation on a cold winter day. We were provided with a fan, however after this incident, I didn't want to risk another alarm going off, so kept the cooking to a minimum.
We stayed in room 1103 which had a view of a brick wall and I guess the positive of this is it would be considered "quiet". Still could hear the external street noise, but wasn't too bothered by it. If you want a view, ask for a different side of the building.
Washers and dryers could also be replaced as they are showing their age.
Would I recommend this hotel? Probably not as a first choice, but it did the job. I would look at other options next time.
