One night stay on our way to walk the Nakasendo. Lovely hotel and staff. The breakfast and onsen were both surprisingly good.

At first I thougt I made a mistake since it is about 25 mins by bus form the train station of Nakatsugawa, but it turned out to be an amazing and surprising experience! Amazing 7 course dinners and breakfasts inclusive, and access to very good onsen facilities in a very quiet section of Nakatsugawa overlooking the mountains made it well worth the price. Had a wonderful and memorable time making this a base to explore the Nakasendo.

Booked 1 night stay with breakfast! Fine dinning 11 course Dinner @ JPY8800 was great & services was very good! Room was clean & bathroom with separate shower a good idea as water will not leak out & keep the toilet bowl area clean & dry!

We came w no car (walking from magome-40 mins bc bus re routed from construction)- upon arrival told no dinner bc have to book 24 hours in advance, yet never was notified of this or asked if I wanted - there are 0 restaurants or even convenience stores w/in walking distance - so you have no way to eat a dinner if dont book in advance or bring your own- thankfully after walking staff thru the logic that they were telling me I can't eat any dinner and am being forced to starve overnight by their dinner reservation policy, they made a special arrangement for dinner - I doubt everyone will have same success, and this is crazy- they should notify in advance_qlso, on site rec facilities have to pay extra for (which is weird- what is my hotel fee for then?) Also, difficult to sort bus to jet destination as sonmuch traffic in area (may 2025), that many bus routes diverted, etc- so it's a bit risky wo car. Staff was nice enough to change their mind after I asked to speak to manager, but I can't recommend given the initial refusal to provide dinner and the lack of options- if have car, none of this big deal, in that case, I'd call it a 3 star hotel facilities(Old small rooms,etc- ok river to walk to behind hotel, and hear bird sounds

Last stop of Nakasendo trail, after all the walking, your arrival there feels heavenly
