26.05.16Hotel is unbeatable in heart of Magome street.
Pros:
- If staying is necessary, this hotel is easy to find.
- staff is responsive to enquiries & speaks good English
- clean room
Cons
- i booked the room without realising that it’s a shared bathroom 😱. Bathroom is like those of onsen style which fortunately I’m quite accustomed to it.
- there’s no drinking water / tea, tissue or any amenities in room. In fact, it is stated no food or drinks inside room. Drinking & eating to be done at their lounge on level 1
- no TV inside room. This is in lounge too (shops are all closed by 4pm)
- we ordered dinner as no other food options. Dinner was rather underwhelming for the price.
Also note that Agoda stated in its listing that check-out time is 12 noon. But we discovered that morning that checkout is 9am 😱
So for the price I paid, not really worth it but only if you need accommodation for the night, then Magome chaya may be your best choice.

26.04.10First time ever in a bunk bed in a dorm. It was great. Facilities spotless, quiet, very thoughtful touches, staff great.
26.03.11Magome Chaya impressed with top notch cleanliness & staff service.
Highly recommend to stay in Magome Chaya
26.03.06Make sure to add dinner reservations with your room. Their salted rainbow trout and special mushroom stew are must-tries. Magome Chaya also has the warmest staff in the village. Thank you!
