If you're doing the Shimanamikaido cycling route, you might consider taking a detour from the main path and venture deeper into the island which this hotel is located. Great location. Serene vibes. There's also a cool museum with lots of samurai relics to check out. Starting Day Two of the cycling route here also offers a scenic route along the sea.

The hostel is also a cafe. So when you check in you would just need to speak with whomever is in the cafe. The proprietress speaks good English. She is definitely warm and welcoming. For the price, it is a bit expensive for a hostel even though I got my own room. Maybe due to several factors, I booked a week or two before hand and there’s not many other choices. The room itself is very clean and the bed was warm and comfy. I didn’t feel the need to turn on the aircon in late november weather. There are also power outlets in the room. The hostel shower comes with towels, shampoo and soap. Toothbrush and toothpaste is also provided. There’s also tea and coffee available and a shared space with some table top games and power outlets. I’m a bit bias on the location due having to back track a few times due to my own error. So take the location rating with a grain of salt. I do to say there’s a public bath nearby you can get to on bike quite quickly.

Great spot, cute cafe downstairs with good hours. On a lovely part of the island could have stayed longer.

Even though the hostel is along the Shimanami Kaido cycling route, it is ridiculously far and hard to get to from the Tatara bridge. That’s not the main complaint however. Some of the floorboards were sinking to the floor, the food was mediocre at best, but sadly the Cuban sandwich or the Sando omelette caused me food poisoning which I’m still recovering from
