The interior was exactly the same with photos shown in the provided images. This hotel is close to the Bamboo Forest and the famous stone bridge. It's also not as crowded as Kiyomizu Temple area, so it's very relaxing. You can comfortably leave your luggage at the hotel. I even received a gift before gleaving. I highly recommend this place!

Nice and quiet away from city with various choice of accessible buses. Super nice staff. We love places with traditional japanese house like this.

The owner was high-handed. I was blamed based on assumptions, and no apology was offered. On the check-in day, I received a message asking for my arrival time and replied within an hour. Yet upon arrival, I was accused, “I contacted you multiple times but got no response!” It was likely due to Agoda's system, but even after showing the confirmation screen, no apology followed. Then, when asked “What were you doing before arriving?”, I answered “I just got to Kyoto,” and they reacted with utter shock. I wasn't visiting for sightseeing this time, but their reaction suggested they assumed everyone should (or would) be sightseeing in Kyoto. People have different circumstances. For example, someone might be staying here from far away because a family member passed away. I felt my way of spending time was severely dismissed. This little traditional hotel is truly a "needle in a haystack"! Tucked away in a quiet neighborhood just steps away from the main street, this traditional hotel feels like you've taken a step into historical Japan. Complete with tatami floors and futons for sleeping, this was a lovely overnight stay. The owner is a wonderful host, leaving traditional osenbei, green tea, and coffee in the room for an evening snack or morning wake up. The room was immaculate, the bedding super soft, and the bath water was ONSEN hot 🔥 I HIGHLY recommend the Guesthouse Kyoto Arashiyama to EVERYONE going to Kyoto for a beautiful peaceful haven. ありがとうございました
