Dalry Guesthouse

We booked a family ensuite room for one night, to attend an event in central Edinburgh. Prior to arrival, I called to ask if it would be ok for us to arrive early, as our function started at 2pm and standard check-in wasn't until 3pm. The owner was very helpful and said that we could leave our bags there and, if the room was ready, we could get the keys early too. On the day, we were well ahead of check-in time but the owner alowed us to wait while he had our room turned around as a priority so that we could drop our bags and get changed - very much appreciated. We found the location very handy, with a choice of many within a 2 minute walk, a Lidl supermarket just across the road and a bus stop just opposite the Lidl car park, which gave us easy access to the city centre. Our room had a double bed and single bed, as well as a sofa. It was well-equipped with TV, kettle, and I think there was even a hairdryer. The ensuite was slightly cramped but adequate, and made for plenty of space in the main room, which was better for us. It had an electric shower that worked well and there was shampoo & shower gel in there - possibly left by a previous guest but I think that's totaly fine and better than chucking such things away for the sake of having everything new/sealed. The place was nice and clean, without being pedantic, and linen and towels were clean and white. A comfy bed is a subjective thing - mine was a bit softer than I prefer but the others thought they were perfect. The pillows were a bit thinner than I prefer too but, as with the bed, that's down to individual preference. Breakfast the next morning was served from 8-10am and, although there was no cooked breakfast, there was plenty of choice of cereals, toast, jams/spreads, yoghurts, some pastries and fruit juices. All was good quality and plentiful. Overall, I'm glad we found this place - it's not a five star hotel but neither isit meant to be. It did exactly what we needed and I thought the price was fair. If staying in the area again I'd definitely go back and I'd recommend it to others.

The staffs are treated guests very well with good manners.

Awesome place and more importanat to me a very friendly and cooperative staff who are ready to help in the best way they can. The location is great next to your door is Lidl and the bus station is one minute walking distance. I would strongly recommend it.
