Minpaku Hiraizumi

If you want a local insight into Hiraizumi, I cannot recommend Minpaku Hiraizumi enough. My room was lovely, with tatami mats, shoji doors, and wood carvings. The breakfast was delicious and nutritious, and gave me the energy I needed to go out and explore the town. The Yamadas were so kind, chatting to me and telling me about the area. They really went above and beyond. Hiraizumi itself was lovely - the locals were friendly, and there are several good restaurants and many historical sites. I wish I had stayed a bit longer. I hope to return and to stay here again!!

We had a wonderful stay here in Minpaku Hiarizumi. Not only is the town a joy to visit with its temples and nature and a short bike ride to a beautiful george, there also was a Jazz Festival Happening and a wonderful atmosphere everywhere. Still staying at Minpaku was one of the best aspects of Hiraizumi. The hosts were wonderful, even accomodating us with a delicious Vegetarian breakfast. The room was amazing. A BIG traditional japanese tatami room, quiet and peaceful. There is a public Onsen about 8 minutes by foot and the Train Station is about 10 minutes to walk. Highly recommended

This is a very special place because of the warm hospitality and kindness of the owners, the beauty of the house and rooms, the excellent breakfasts and the cultural interest of Hiraizumi. It is also very convenient to the rail station and within walking distance to the two major temples. I have visited Japan a number of times, and this was one of the most enjoyable and memorable stays of all my travels there.

Minpaku Hiraizumi is a beautiful, immaculate home a short walk from Hiraizumi station run by a wonderful couple. The area is very peaceful but can lack places to eat, shop or get cash from an ATM. If you need a wide convenient selection of these I would advise staying in Ichinoseki and getting the train in and out. If you want an amazing place to stay and enjoy the world heritage site then I cannot recommend this accommodation enough. The breakfast was varied and delicious, the room large and comfortable with modern conviences, the price is very reasonable for the service and your hosts will be perfect. If I could give this a higher score than 5/5 I would.
