Robert Shiomi a Japanese-American first generation who came to the United States at the age of 13 in 1918 rebuilt Shiomi's house for his parents shortly after the war. Although it is a traditional architecture that does not use nails it has a unique taste with Western designs incorporated into the fittings and metal fittings.

There is a Goemon bath that is boiled with firewood a well for a hand pump and a Western-style compost bio-toilet that has been renovated from a pumping toilet.
