Hotel Sekisuien

Really nice hotel with comfortable beds. The hotel is up a big hill from town so takes a little getting to. But once you’re there it’s really great.

We had an enjoyable stay at this lovely hotel. It felt more traditional than many other hotels. The location was great since it’s near the castle. Breakfast was a nice experience and the staff was pleasant.

We had a very pleasant stay in Gujo-Hachiman. The hotel staff are all very kind and helpful. All members of staff tried their best to communicate with us despite the language barrier, and we made it work! We felt very welcomed. We also greatly appreciated the free shuttle service from the train station, and the free shuttle to/from town for the Gujo-odori festival! My only recommendation for improvement in services would be to add a free shuttle for guests to get to and from the town center from the hotel, so that guests do not need to walk up and down the big hill to go into town. Otherwise our stay was perfect!

We booked this hotel for Gujo Odori and did the terrace room with meal package. The (locally sourced!) food was amazing! They also had a Yukata rental and dressing service so we could dress for the festivities for a small fee. The staff were incredibly helpful and accommodating, and the front desk used a translation device whenever there was a language issue. A shuttle was provided to the festival for free. The hotel was also a 15 minute (steep hill) way to Gujo Castle. My only issue was that the beds were smaller than expected, a double room has 2 slightly smaller than American full sized beds. For one night it was fine but I could see bigger people having difficulty. That being said it was one of the best experiences I’ve had staying in Japan after 10 years of traveling and living here. We will certainly be back!

Loved Gujo Hachiman. The hotel was a lovely experience. We opted for both the breakfast and dinner and were very glad we did. Both meals were exceptional. The hotel is halfway up the hill to the castle but there is a shuttle from the town to the hotel which you can reserve. It is a 10 minute walk down.
