B&B Ukigumo

This guesthouse is not really a finding but a truly great place! I loved to arrive and find all the colourful inside-shoes! And the room is so beautiful! My room is the simplest (shared bathroom and shower - both sparkling clean and with very hot water and great pressure) and still very spacious and comfortable with a breathtaking view and a sink with blue tiles at the entrance. It's so charming! I asked when I arrived where I could watch the sunset and sunrise and was told about the mountain nearby, but actually I believe the best place is: my room! Hahahahaha I've stayed 3 nights, I wish it was more! There's coin laundry and a common area full of books with a comfy sofa and chairs. Iwato nearby is so beautiful!!!! The way to there is gorgeous, I went by bus but would be feasible and gorgeous to walk (1:30/2h)! The gorge is 15 minutes away walking. Takashiho shrine 5 minutes (the kagura show is really overrated I find it very boring) - on the other hand the bathhouse in Iwato is INCREDIBLE (electric bath and horizon view). Aratate shrine has a delicious path inside the forest that was super peaceful! So, some things are very famous turistically and are not that great and others are not that talked and are amazing which gives many things to do for several relaxing days. There's not many restaurants around but the kitchen is greatly equiped and there's a huge pharmacy/supermarket very close by so it's easy to buy delicious food and prepare it to eat warm and with the mountains view in your room. Also there's a bakery, for those who like an extra treat after nutrition, that is SUPERB! Breakfast is "simple" but really good! Honey, jam, big and fluffy bread , boiled egg, onion soup. Apple juice, milk, coffee tea and a vegetables vitamin (loved this one!).

Feel so Japanese after staying one night. Near to the gorge(walking distance), next to the shrine. View is fantastic

I was surprised and delighted by how nice this b&b was given its affordability. Even the simple breakfast was tasty, except for the coffee, but I’m picky. I highly recommend staying here.

Clean rooms , clean toilet. We had to extend our stay during me to typhoon and oji san was very accommodating . We could also rent trekking shoes and extended rental for one more day. Overall recommended. Nothing fancy but does the job. Good stay.
