26.03.16 The Baxter Hostel is located in the city centre, yet unaffected by traffic noise. It's conveniently located, with the central train station just across the street (a 2-minute walk). Popular shopping malls are also nearby, also a 2-minute walk.
The Baxter Hostel is the only one in the Edinburgh area that offers free breakfast to guests.
The Baxter Hostel was very clean throughout. However, the hot water in the bathroom wasn't hot enough, possibly because the water heater couldn't supply enough hot water.
The kitchen has all the necessary utensils, except for a microwave. Some of the seat cushions are torn and need repair.
Important Notes:
1. Breakfast is available from 8:00
AM to 10:00 AM.
2. The kitchen is only open until 10:00 PM.
3. Hot water in the bathroom is only available until 11:00 PM to avoid disturbing guests' rest.
26.03.12 Baxter is an amazingly located hostel. Staff are professional and cautious. They always there to help just at first call. Communication is excellent as well. I recommend this hostel to anyone visiting the city of Edinburgh. Above all, it is amazingly affordable.
26.03.10 Only issue we faced was the lift :D we had lot of heavy luggage. Rest all was good - facilities, staff, cleanliness , very near to station.
