26.05.27Location is relatively close to Hirayu Bus Terminal and easily reachable by foot.
The room are spacious and clean, but I got room in one of the annex and i have to climb 2 set of stairs to get to the main building (no elevator) so maybe traveling with big luggage would be quite a challenge
The Onsen is the best experience I've had. 2 beautiful outdoor onsen that can be enjoyed throughout the stay. There's also relaxing room with massage chair free to use after the onsen.
I got 2 buffet (dinner and breakfast) and they're both amazing. Wide range of selection and some local specialties.
Not to mention, the price is really good considering all the facilities that is given. Definitely will recommend this place for everyone staying near Hirayu Onsen!
26.05.23 this place was an absolute gem, and i have been recommending this to everyone around me.
the resort is a large compound with a good sized indoor and outdoor onsen, restaurants and open seating areas with a beautiful view of their interior garden. they even had a convenience store in the lobby, which was extremely handy!
the room was perfect, very spacious and traditional style, and very clean too. i had a wonderful view of the alps and it was such a pleasure to wake up to that daily. i had booked a king bed option but they ran out of king bed rooms, so they helped to push my two beds together within 10min of my enquiry!
there's also beautiful yukatas you can take from the lobby to use around the resort, as well as sleepwear, and there was a large variety of sizes available.
the onsen was large and spacious, with ample amenities and very clean.
the common sitting area at the lobby serves FREE ramen at 10pm nightly, which you can also opt to bring to the room, and it was such a pleasant surprise! good for supper too as most restaurants in the area will be closed by then.
the breakfast buffet is a MUST GET, extremely worth it and very delicious with a beautiful view again of their garden and waterfall. i only wish i had more time and stomach space to sit down and try everything in the huge spread. it included both local japanese delicacies and western options, so there's something for everyone. i personally focused on the japanese dishes, and was able to try many famous regional dishes that would have cost extra to order ala carte in outside restaurants just to try.
service was immaculate too, they were extremely accommodating to requests and very pleasant. front desk lady Mei/Mai (?) was the best service staff i've encountered in japan, not only was her english good but she was very helpful. she even went out of her way to accompany me to view another room when i was considering a change, and helped me call around to various related businesses when i had an issue with my sightseeing booking.
the location is amazing too, located just a short less than 5min walk from the bus terminal and near the famous pizza shop and the hirayu shrine! on my way out after checkout, they also arranged to give me a lift to the station as it was raining slightly and i had two luggages, which i was planning to do two back and forth trips to bring to the station since i needed a hand free for my luggage.
overall, this place was such amazing value for money and more like a 6 star accommodation. i've stayed in onsen resorts in japan that cost more than 10x this and the experience was not as perfect.
26.05.20 This Hotel was a huge disappointment. The room is old and worn, damaged wallpaper, damaged Tatami, no curtains (although there was a rod with hooks) or other means to darken the room. The Onsen was disgusting and in bad shape. The official pictures are at least 20 years old. The wood is rotten, the outdoor bath floor is covered in slippery algae (No, it's not the minerals in the water like some other onsen have. In the middle of the water there is a strip that isn't slippery but everywhere else in the water is extremly dangerous and disgusting). I have been to over 20 different Onsen in Japan and this is the only one I felt dirty after bathing.
Considering the high price this is unacceptable. This Hotel is part of dormy inn, so I expected better quality.
