This hotel was nice and staff was friendly

I arrived after dark and was concerned for my safety as I entered the building. There is desk clerk - you talk to a kiosk to someone in an unknown location. I made the decision to walk away and forfiet my money rather than stay in such a terrible place.

Price was lowest in the area. Located at the back of Jackson Motel. Check in process was by speaking to a kiosk with a screen showing a person at remote location. But it was easy and smooth. I got a non smoking King bed room. There was a strange smell when entering the room, I think a previous guest had smoked in there and what I smelled was the deoderizer... similar to some casino hotel rooms. The lighting was too harsh with bright white daylight temperature lighting. Combined with dark colored furniture and stark bare walls, it had a very spartan feel. All TV channels stopped working at 1am. I tried calling front desk but no one answered. I guess it's forced quiet hour and energy saving? Shower was hot but water pressure was low. Just barely satisfying. Only about 8 parking spots were next to the building. A big open lot was about 50 ft away. Lighting in the parking areas could be better. Overall I wish I spent $15 to $20 more for a different place. But if low price is most important to you, this is acceptable and seemed safe.
