26.05.06Unbeknownst to us, we went during the May Day holiday, so no wonder the prices were double what it normally should have been.
The place is kitty corner from the North Lambeth underground station on the Bakerloo line, about a 1/2 block away. On the same block, there are a couple of restaurants (Pret A Manger being one of them), a tiny Sainsbury’s, and a large souvenir shop/grocery store where I got my SIM card plus setup for a much more reasonable price than say at the airport. The hotel is quite secure, you need a card key to get inside after certain hours, and also to go to your floor in the elevator. There is reception probably between 6am and 10pm, didn’t try to look in the middle of the night. The staff is extremely friendly.
I didn’t try the restaurant, but there’s a restaurant inside the Marlin which opens at 7am. Breakfast starts at £15 per person.
The standard room itself is decently spacious, probably around 250 sq feet. Mine had a king (2 twins put together) plus a 2 person sofa and a table. Lots of electrical plug outlets everywhere which is super nice, all were UK style, so if you’re not from the UK either bring your own converters, or I think downstairs they sell them. Housekeeping comes every other day, so if you checked in on a Wednesday afternoon, you wouldn’t get cleaning until Friday morning. However you can request towels. They don’t seem to have facecloths, only hand towels and bath towels. Just a shower, no bathtub. The room has a fridge and we requested a microwave which we got as well. There’s also a safe that is big enough to fit a 14” laptop among other things. There’s also a small cooktop and dishwasher, dishes, and glasses.
We were also able to store luggage downstairs as well. Since this is a aparthotel, there was potentially a question as to whether luggage would be storable or not in case of early arrival, as in our case. Also, you can check in early (before 3pm checking) and stay later (after 11:30am checkout), at a cost per hour.
Finally, directions can be confusing, but going towards the London Eye (about a 7 minute walk) is going to your left as you exit the hotel. Going to the North Lambeth station is to your right as you exit the hotel, and then cross the street diagonally at the corner, about 1 minute of walking.
