We also had a family room here that has been reviewed by us. See our previous review for details. This room was superior with seaview and more natural light, though a bit more road traffic noise, only a concern for the ultralight sleeper. Would recommend and stay again

Wonderfully clean with friendly helpful staff of high integrity. Rooms, linen and bathrooms were immaculate, as were the shared lounge and simple and adequate kitchen area with shared fridge freezer(no problems experienced). No safe lock box in rooms but hotel and rooms felt secure enough to not be concerned at all. Beachside location, towards quieter west end of surf beach, near the best beach seafood restaurants and within 1min walk of Plan B and 4 mins walk to Moochies, some of the best Cafe eatery establishments in the region. 4 mins walk to Weligama Laundry and bus station. Liquor store 2mins walk, can be enjoyed on the roof top (2 loungers, sparse but good views at sunset and night) Rooms on 1st and 2nd floors, safe stairs, no lifts. Check in/out were seamless, we had no issues with card payment on arrival, no surcharge. Beach towels included, available from front desk. Breakfast can be arranged, did not try so can't give opinion. Would stay again and recommend to others.

Owner is VERY friendly and very helpful without being pushy about services (a big change after being harassed by many other hotel owners throughout my trip). Room was big and airy with mosquito netting, clean towels and bedding, balcony to dry clothes, and also a shared mini cooking area if you wanted to cook your own food. Very good location, just opposite all the seafood shops, and also about 5mins walk away from the main surfboard rental areas -- the hotel itself is right in front of the beach, but the board rentals are a stone's throw away. The biggest negative unfortunately was that the hotel does not have hot water. This made showering - at any time - very painful - if it was hot, the shock of the cold water was very painful, and if the weather was cooler the water makes it worse. I was already a bit ill from the travel and the enforced cold showers did not help. Note that this was not a room issue - EVERY ROOM did not have hot water, so caveat emptor.

Surasa is definitely a place to come, nice big clean rooms with a very good a/c The manager is so lovely he will always welcome you and help you with anything you need. The location is great you can surf straight across the rd and the Main Street is a 30 second walk. Heaps of great places to eat close by. It has a small kitchen and fridge and a lovely hand out place that you can overlook the beach and relax on the comfy chairs!!
