My room reservation is including BF, and when I told the receptionist staff that I need to catch my train early in the morning, they offering us to take away and it was ready at 5am. The towel was not that clean (the color is not purely white like old towel).

The hotel has a classic, old-style charm, but unfortunately my experience did not meet expectations for the price. The hallway carpets appeared worn and in need of replacement. The staff was very nice, updating my room but In my room, the shower did not provide hot water, which was inconvenient. Additionally, the duvet cover did not seem freshly cleaned, as there was an unpleasant sweat feet odor. I also noticed a small cockroach in the bathroom, which was concerning. Overall, while the property has potential, improvements in cleanliness, maintenance, and amenities would greatly enhance the guest experience and better reflect the value offered.

Friendly staff, good location, food is ok, few selections for d bfast tho. The hotel is wheelchair friendly everywhere but the bathroom. Overall it was a good stay.

Receptionist Ellen was outstanding. She guided me to various places to visit and was always friendly, helpful, and accommodating. She even assisted me with an umbrella when it rained. Her knowledge is truly impressive—she shared the history and points of interest effortlessly. Her trainee, Sabel, also did a great job. Even on the following day when Ellen was not on duty, the rest of the reception team continued to deliver excellent service. The hospitality was exceptional throughout my stay. The reservation team, reception, housekeeping, and food & beverage staff went above and beyond to arrange beautiful room decorations, complete with flowers 💐 and a birthday cake. The room smelled wonderful, and I was given a high-floor room with a balcony and a lovely view—such a thoughtful touch. Breakfast was the highlight of my stay. It is located on the ground floor facing the pool, in a spacious restaurant that can comfortably accommodate large groups. The food was absolutely delicious and authentically prepared—the chef is truly talented. The service was impeccable: every waiter was attentive, proactive, and ensured our table was well taken care of. They assisted with drinks and took our egg and bread orders directly at the table. The level of attention was top-notch. The mosque is conveniently located next door, with a side gate that allows easy access without a long walk—very thoughtful for guests. The room itself was spacious and comfortable. I have stayed in many 3-, 4-, and 5-star hotels, and I can honestly say this is one of the best hotel experiences I have ever had. While the hotel may be older and show some signs of age, the service was absolutely outstanding—better than many recent 5-star stays I’ve had. Royal Darmo Malioboro Hotel truly exceeded my expectations. It’s clear that the staff are well-trained and genuinely care about guest satisfaction. Please continue to maintain this high standard—this hotel has the potential to rival even top-tier 5-star properties.
