26.01.04Our friends booked the hotel so we decided to join them and did not really research the hotel. It is placed a bit further of the centre but its connected fairly. Trains are near and taxi is around 5 euros. we were with the car so no big deal. There is free parking which was mostly packed but most of the time you should be good.
There is also a gas station in front of hotel with a shop that works 24/7 … thats all good.
We got the superior room which seems to be the bigger but older rooms in the lower part of the building. Day before the trip I discovered that our reservation did not include 7 years kid and staff was very kind and helpfull to prepare the sofa with no extra charge.
Our 4 nights stay passed mostly without problems and pleasant but there is a number of problems with the establishment which did bother us a bit and would be a problem if we had spent more time in the hotel .
Upon arrival the safe was locked and we could not find the sink plugs. Did nit want to lose jewlery or something in the drain, later I found two of them tucked behind the sink.
Half of the lights in the bathroom were dead. The hallway with the closet and the bathroom are dark anyway so kind of annoying.
Then we had a problem with a keycard slot as it was switching off electricity randomly. Staff was quick and replaced the key card, then it worked properly. No biggie but again annoying.
The bath tub with shower is designed poorly so there is no way to shower without at least a bit of the flood in the bathroom.
Heating in bathroom was not working, it was not cold cause the room was warm but the floor tiles were cold and slippers were not provided.
There is no shampoo or regenerator, only empty bottles, there is one half full soap bottle that seems to be sufficient for all user cases.
There are no toiletries of any kind at all.
There are no bathrobes though there is a “spa”.
Tv is not smart but there are a number of sat channels.
General and daily houskeeping and cleaning is not good.
Breakfast … ok, not a variety of dishes but passable… if there were enough glasses, cups and items in general. The staff tried but something was always missing. Toast bread, cheese … milk, juices empty etc … replenishing was not very fast if at all. Anyway, lets say it was passable.
spa… pool is quite cold. There is a dry finnish sauna, infrared and wet turkish. half of saunas were either cold or not working, Turkish sauna was not working. the finnish dry was therefore always packed. They run out of bathrobes everyday and some days they did not even had towells… incredible. Told us to bring towells from rooms … ah yes, those were mostly old and rugged. Bathrobes were not seen through our stay. Dryers are mostly useless.
I did not want to go to the spa after day one as the experience was awful but my wife and the kid gave it one more try.. it was even worse. downstairs, chaos.
What else … the restaurant on the top has nice view, the food is, well, not very good. We had three of four wok orders wrong (rice instead of noodles), we did not want to make a problem as the staff was nice and offered to change if needed…so we kept the wrong dishes but the beef meat was chewy. pizza is ok, gnocchi were not very good… so not really recommendable unless you have to.
We had three rooms in total and every room had problems of some kind.
Overall, staff is trying but either the management or something is gone horribly wrong. The facilities are not that bad if they were maintained properly.
Anyway, better stay away if possible.
25.09.29Stayed in Ibis for 2 nights and we loved it! Walking distance to tram line 3 to get us to Bascharjia & shopping mall. The cafe in the hotel has great varieties of desserts & drinks, and the lady staff mending the counter is very lovable & friendly. I forgot her name but yes, she add value to hotel / cafe patrons. Will definitely recommend the hotel to others.
