26.05.16Absolutely terrible experience at Norfolk Motel. This was by far one of the worst motel stays we’ve had.
The first thing we noticed was the overwhelming smell of cigarette smoke in the room, despite the property being advertised as non-smoking. The smell was so strong it made the stay uncomfortable immediately.
The condition and cleanliness of the room were unacceptable. The television had some kind of spray paint splattered all over it. There were cobwebs on the outside wall above the door, which gives you an idea of how little attention is paid to maintenance. The mirror was scratched up and covered in some sort of grime or residue that clearly hadn’t been properly cleaned.
The bathroom looked like it hadn’t been updated in decades, with an outdated green bathtub that felt like stepping back in time—in the worst way. Dust covered parts of the ceiling to the point it looked like it hadn’t been cleaned in ages. We were only given two hand towels to wash up, and honestly, one of them looked and felt like it may have already been used before our arrival.
To make matters worse, the booking system somehow reserved us into two different rooms during one stay. On the second night, we were moved to a room with only a single bed, even though we specifically booked two double beds. Completely inadequate for our needs.
Staff were absolutely no help and made no effort to resolve any of the issues. On top of that, the motel advertises itself as pet friendly, but nowhere during booking was there any clear mention of a pet fee. The moment staff saw our dog, they suddenly came chasing us for extra money.
Poor cleanliness, poor maintenance, poor communication, and poor customer service. We will never stay here again and would strongly advise others to look elsewhere.
