We had a pleasant stay at Silver Fern Rotorua . The room was clean and looked newly renovated. The facility was also quiet, even though our room was located right in front of the main door on the second level. We checked in late at around 11 PM, but clear instructions were provided, making it easy to access the hotel without any issues. One thing to note is that the reception only opens at 2 PM, and there is no staff available from 9 PM onwards, so guests arriving late should be prepared for self-check-in.

The lodge is set in a quieter part of town, so it’s peaceful at night while still being close to everything. The room was clean, comfortable, and good value for money. It had the essentials like a fridge, tea/coffee facilities, and heating, which made the stay easy and practical. While the decor is fairly simple, it suits the budget-friendly style of the accommodation. Staff were friendly and helpful during my stay, and check-in was smooth. I also appreciated the free parking and WiFi, which added to the overall convenience. Overall, this is a solid option if you’re looking for affordable accommodation in Taupō. It’s not luxury, but it delivers on comfort, location, and value—great for travellers who plan to spend most of their time out exploring.
