Superb service. Appliances provided in room are awesome. Hot spring is also adequate. Dinner and breakfast are delish. I only informed the staff during check in at 4pm that my hubby does not eat beef, and they made the necessary arrangements for our dinner at 6.15pm that night! Really value for money for this ryokan.

This hotel exceeded our expectations by a long shot. We thought we'd splurge a little bit for this leg of our trip. A lot of options were unavailable in the Iya Valley itself, so we opted for this one in Oboke, and thank goodness we did. The room - very clean, spacious and a view straight down to a rumbling river below. Everything you could need was available, including high quality Dyson appliances. The food - wow. This was our first time having a kaiseki-style meal and it did not disappoint. The local Sweetfish was a feature in most meals, but was supplemented by an assortment of various local and regional dishes. We rolled out of there full and satisfied. The facilities - the onsen area was great. Clean and lots of options to use. Private even with the nearby bridge (which is a semi busy road). Can't really complain at all. Finally, the staff - they were just superb. Taking care at every detail from including our country flag on the table for dining, or waving us goodbye with a large flag. They catered to our every request and explained things clearly. They really made our stay feel special. Overall I was very impressed. They have maintained this facility well, given the region has quite a mix of old and new. We really loved this as a highlight of our trip and would come back again in a heartbeat.

The hotel is very new from the inside and has a ryokan vibe. All was great, and the food was probably the best we had in 5 weeks Japan!

This hotel is superb. We had a superior Japanese western room which was very spacious, clean and modern and came with a few nice inclusions. We enjoyed the amenities at the hotel including the private and public onsens, sauna and massage chairs. The food included in our rate was outstanding. Like eating at a top class restaurant every day. The staff were also excellent and provided some lovely personal touches.
