Golden Bell Backpacker Hotel and Pool Bar

Only did the 1 star review due to Agoda not getting our reservation to the hotel. Got there and they were full. We had to spend an hour scrambling to find a replacement hotel at 8 pm. Absolutely DO NOT RECOMMEND AGODA. Can't comment on the actual hotel as we didn't get a chance to use it!

Positives....Boutique room is lovely, a decent size with big comfy bed and pillows. Bathroom bit small but has large separate wet room shower so bathroom floor doesn't get soaked like so many other places. Nice little balcony with two chairs where enjoyed sitting with a cold beer people watching. Great TV with four English movies channels. Aircon really quite and works very well. Free breakfast basic....eggs! Scrambled, omelette, fried runny or over done. You can help yours self to bread and use toaster provided. Hotel in good location. 5min walk to Old Town. Negatives....no bicycles (free or to rent). Mopeds are 150,000 and laundry 30,000 per kilo but 2kilo minimum.If you Exit hotel, go right about 100m and on your left is a scooter rental shop that hires them for 75,000 for 24hrs and their laundry is only 20,000 per kilo. Pool at hotel is more like a duck pond and it is right on the main road. Staff don't offer to clean your room, we stayed a week, and after four days had to WhatsApp management and ask them to send someone to clean our room and change our sheets. (Which they did). When I booked, asked for a quiwt room on a higher floor (has four floors) . Got given room on second floor overlooking main road and restaurant opposite where Vietnamese men sit and get loudly drunk every night.
