22.11.04Great place - really professional and helpful staff, really clean and comfortable rooms with decent soundproofing for a good night's sleep. We were in a basic which wasn't particularly large, but more than enough space for a comfortable stay!
22.10.11This is my first stay with the Catalonia and I am impressed by the cozy & elegant ambience of the hotel: Room was clean and spacious, shower was huge, and the decor comes with a hint of exoticness. Breakfast was splendid (great omelets and Port wine in the morning!). The location is about 5 min walk to the famous Majestic Cafe and another 10-15 min walk to the shopping streets (Rua de Flora) and tourist sites-- not very central location but close enough.
The only disappointment was the Spa requires reservation and additional charge (~20 euros) and was in fact smaller than showed in the pictures; it should allow no more than 1 group of customers or else the spa would be very nosy and crowded. I visited the spa alone, not knowing that another couple has also made a reservation; I could not really enjoy it as the area is too small for more than 1 group. Please revise your policy and make sure there are no more than 1 group for a spa reservation slot.
22.08.23Lovely hotel in a good location!
Beds were very comfortable and had outlets nearby, as well as personal lights to help manage brightness.
We wanted to use the spa and pool but our schedule was too busy so we didn't have time and can't comment (because of covid, they had to be reserved).
Getting to the hotel initially by car was a bit hectic as once you pass the hotel, you can only get there again via one-way streets and there was traffic.
You park in a public garage that is before the hotel, so you have to do the loop again to get back to it. One time we were told the lot was full and we had to ask them to check. It took a while but once they removed the barrier, there were tons of empty spots (made no sense). Be aware you may only be able to pay for parking using cash. Once you park though, it is a close walk to the hotel since you don't have to abide the streets that are one-way for traffic. Do drop your bags off at the hotel first through, unless they are just backpacks (cobblestone streets). The hotel will give you another parking ticket to get the reduced hotel rate when you exit.
We didn't take the continental breakfast, but you can order a-la-carte for room service, and they were mostly reliable in the morning (some days late, some days super fast). Suggest getting an omelet with ham and cheese and the fruit plate for best value.
They provided one bottle of water on arrival, which was appreciated.
Would stay here again, but be sure to book a room with a garden view as the street view just looked at another hotel that was under construction.
The hotel is near a cute square and walkable to most attractions, although most places in Portugal stop serving food by 10 pm (we arrived late and didn't realize this).
