25.05.07The Sintra Marmòris Palace was one of the finest hotels we have ever stayed at. Sintra is in a beautiful small city and the hotel is within walking distance to the old town and has amazing views of the castles and national parks that Sintra is known for.
The building itself is reminiscent of grand late 19th century living in the palace of a wealthy merchant family. It retains all the charming details and features of the original house but has been updated to include every possible amenity one could find in a luxury establishment, including a magnificent indoor heated pool that opens to the outside when the sun is out.
The room we stayed in ( the Library Room) was a truly unique place to spend a week. As there are only nine bedrooms, you can be guaranteed a peaceful stay, and the feeling of having the entire place to yourself.
Sintra has a lot to see and do but nothing came close to spending time walking around the magnificent gardens or reading a book in the shelter of the vine covered patio that looked over the vegetable and flower gardens.
The grounds include a fascinating collection of ancient building structures, including an original lime kiln that dates back to the Middle Ages .
The staff in the hotel were truly outstanding, and nothing was too much trouble for them. They were friendly, professional, and a pleasure to interact with. Every morning we were treated to a magnificent breakfast, tailored to our own specifications and desires.
I truly cannot recommend hotel Sintra Marmòris Palace highly enough and given its fast access to Lisbon by direct train it makes an ideal place to base yourself for a visit to Lisbon and to the wonderful city of Sintra.
24.08.06We enjoyed our stay here - beautiful mansion with loads of charm - staff super helpful, great breakfast and wine and cheese hour. Spacious room filled with amenities was nice break from tiny European hotel rooms. Quiet location removed from center of town but easily reached with a bolt or Uber.
24.08.03Horrendous stay, the worst hotel we stayed ever. The room was very smelly as if we were sleeping in a sewage. No one was here to welcome you or show you around, nor help with the luggage. The breakfast was the cherry on the top. I found 4 maggots swimming at the top of the orange juice, when i told the waiter, he said it is normal, we use organic oranges. Except the omelette, everything was bland or soggy for the vegetables . They serve your coffee at the end of your breakfast unless you want a Nespresso. The swimming pool was very dirty, so dirty my daughter didn’t want to go back. It is extremely over priced for the service, not even a decent 3 stars hotel.
