Stayed overnight while enjoying Xmas dinner, could recommend the place for it’s central location yet in a quiet backwater.

We had a wonderful 4 night stay at Pousada Convento de Tavira. The room was very comfortable, and we enjoyed having a little balcony as well as all the other amenities. The location was perfect for seeing the sights of the town and watching sunsets. We especially appreciated the fact that the hotel is very comfortable, yet retains a lot of historic features -- like the chapel, and the well worn majestic stairs. There is even a small archeological museum where you can see foundations of earlier groups that settled in the area, along with several artifacts from the last 3ooo years. The staff was very knowledgeable about the history of the building and the area and they were willing to spend time answering our many questions about the the building and the neighborhood. If you love history -- this is your place!

Beautiful 16th century building. Staff were great and very helpful. Good breakfast but they need to invest in better coffee because the make it yourself coffee machine produced coffee that was barely drinkable. Good location in the old town near the river and very walkable to shops and restaurants.

lovely stay in Tavira… perfect location.. really lovely staff. Hope to return!
