26.05.14Perfect stay with a very caring, friendly crew!
26.02.22Great place to stay! Highly recommend it. There is always room to improve, but thats life. Loved the peace and tranquility in the Hoki. You can still feel the old spirits there, good ones that remind you that life does not have to be always in the fast lane ..
26.02.21While the staff were helpful it doesn't work well when one person has to cover the bar, office, phones and everything else when there are several guests wanting to check in
26.02.16We first chose to stay at Opononi Hotel in 1972 on our honeymoon. This trip was a repeat journey to celebrate all those years that have passed since then. The location right on the waters edge is gorgeous. The rooms are well worn and decor in the hotel looks the same as our previous trip many years ago. But the young lad cooked a great meal at the pub, the music was old time, and staff worked hard to make us feel welcome once again.
26.01.06Opononi may seem quite remote, but for travellers wanting to explore the Waipoua Kauri Forest, it serves as an excellent supply stop. The Opononi Hotel is a pleasant resting spot within this stop. Its in-house pub is a big advantage - so that even if you feel hungry late at night, you can still find something to eat, and make connections with the locals in the meantime. The scenery here is beautiful as well, with the ocean and the large sand dunes across the water creating a strikingly contrasting view. The staff are very friendly and helpful. While the breakfast isn't particularly abundant, it provides enough energy to last you through the day. The only drawback is that the hotel rooms don't receive Wi-Fi signals very well, but overall the experience is quite good.
