25.12.26The only good thing about this place is the view (so 2 stars just for that). I understand that it is supposed to be a “rustic design” but in reality it is just an old, worn-out, and poorly cleaned hotel (the bedside lamps were very dusty, and the bedsheets and towels had stains). The room had very musty smell. The staff were not friendly or welcoming at all.
Keep in mind that reception closes at 7 p.m. We were running late and informed them more than twice that we would arrive closer to 8 p.m., but received no reply. We were only lucky because one of the guests left the main entrance door open (you are supposed to close it yourself), otherwise we would have been stuck outside in the rain. We then had to walk around the hotel to find someone to give us the key. Of course, there was no help with luggage or anything else, and the place has very steep stairs.
Breakfast was another disappointment... the cheapest white bread, ham that looked like it had been sitting there for days, and overall very questionable food quality. You really have to make an effort to find food of such low quality in South Africa. It also took over 20 minutes to refill the coffee thermos, even though there were only six other guests, so they were not particularly busy.
Considering the price of almost $200 per night, you would expect at least good service or a decent breakfast, or a clean room, I mean something that would justify the cost. Instead, there was literally nothing except a good view and location.
