25.02.25Last minute trip to St. Francis Bay. Easy booking, immediate confirmation, we arrived within the next 2 hours. Lovely staff, very attentive and chatty. Happy to assist and offer advice on places. Slightly remote location from the bay but extremely quiet, surrounded by nature (horses and wildlife on the property, we also spotted an owl at night). Relatively small lodge with few rooms but comfortable and well maintained. Drive from the gate approx 5 minutes (can be muddy and is one-way). Good room sizes, large comfy bed and well equipped bathroom. Good hot shower. Swimming pool was nice too, very serene. Unfortunately no wifi at the pool, for us without 4G. The bed smelled a bit musty and the carpet had a large stain near the fridge, but we would still strongly recommend this place for the many other reasons mentioned. Also, we were slightly affected by load shedding and it is good that the place has a generator in use during critical hours. The ceiling fan will stop at night when electricity goes off, but that’s a nationwide issue, not the resort’s fault.
22.07.20A lovely quiet peaceful setting amongst gorgeous gardens, very clean suite /half cottages. Delightful staff and a very nice breakfast included.
Please just be aware this is on a farm slightly out of town , and you will go through several electric gates & some dirt road to enter and exit the property. which is slightly remoter than we realised. We were the only guests the one night so they also did not serve dinner , which meant a trip to town and unluckily Eskom was off so a few places open, & St Francis has some nice varied restaurants .
The lodge also offered to do a trip on the canal ways of St Francis with a local operator, and over all a comfortable stay in a lovely clean and warm cottage with a charming Host and receptionist Deidre.
