26.05.01We picked this hotel because it's closed to the Jokulsarlon Glacier as we have an early glacier tour the next day. We arrived late after a brief stop at Vik for a quick dinner.
The hotel provided free breakfast and it was surprisingly good in such remote area. There is actually another glacier behind the hotel which is just 20 minutes walk. Too bad we didn't have time to do it this time.
26.04.10We appreciate the fast response from the staff in solving the noise issue. The staffs are nice too. The view is great. Breakfast is awesome as well. Will come back next time.
26.04.08There's a fantastic trail that starts right at the hotel and gets you to the glacier. Hotel-wise this place is a pretty standard hotel. Breakfast was great with eggs and bacon. Beds were a bit uncomfortable. Overall good stop
26.04.04Clean place.
We were emergency evacuated here due to road closure.
But this is the place we saw Aurora.
26.03.20Beautiful location and the food was generally good — the Icelandic platter and Arctic Char were highlights of our evening. However, we were disappointed by one thing that left a bad taste.
We ordered the Marinated Chicken Tenders, which on the menu came with black rice. What arrived was plain white rice — no mention, no apology, no explanation. We only found out the truth when we overheard the waiter informing other guests at a nearby table. At no point did anyone bother to tell us directly.
At these prices — nearly 6,000 ISK for a chicken dish — you expect transparency and communication as a basic standard of service. White rice is not black rice. It's a different dish. We paid for something we did not receive, and we weren't even given the courtesy of being told.
The restaurant was not busy. There was no excuse for this oversight.
We love Iceland and we appreciate the remote location, but good service should not be optional at a hotel restaurant charging premium prices.
