you cant expect anything more. its bang in the center of the village and just a few mins walk from the bus station. you dont need transport when you stay here. its cheap and also pretty good for the price. it has a garden so you will have to deal with the mosquitoes every evening. also the beds may not be too comfy and the AC is turned on for just a few hours everynight. but you cant complain for this price. i think they shud increase the price a bit and use the AC all night.

Ann, the lady that runs the hostel, is very helpful and friendly.  She offers to get you things, take you places, and gives advice on things to do.  However, she runs the whole hostel herself and the place is a mess.  The entire hostel looks like a frat house after a wild party. The lobby, hallways, and backyard grounds are filthy with trash and empty bottles everywhere.  She does not clean the rooms until new guests make a booking. As advertised, like many rooms in Pai, there is no AC in the rooms, lobby, or anywhere in the hostel and it gets very hot during the day; rooms not cleaned daily or at all during your stay.  The fan in the room does not help.  The room was fairly clean however but the overall appearance of the hostel was a turn off.

I felt comfortable the entire time I was in Sunny hostel. The location was not the most convenient but I come to appreciate the nice quiet stroll (10min) after eating a big meal at Pai walking street. The host immediately welcomed me and brought me to my room, which was cosy. She then gave me some space to settle in. The next day, she invited the guests to a meal that she had prepared and talked to everyone for a bit. After the trip, she messaged me thinking that I had left something behind even though she didn't have to. Will definitely come back if I visit Thailand again & I heard that the place is going to undergo renovation so I believe that the experience will be even better with a bigger crowd as covid subsides.
