Woodstock Beach Camp

I probably came at the wrong time as its the quite season, so very little was happening socially. Traveling alone I would recommend going when it is in a busier season. But very relaxing and pleasant laid back atmosphere within a run/ ride to the national park and with a beach directly across the road outside.

Coming from the southern part of Cat Ba Island (Hải Phong), Woodstock Bagpackers is about 7 km from Cat Ba Town. I was there 3 years ago before the Corona Pandemic and is was full of life with a lot of young people then. This time we were only a handful guests and in gerneral tourism for forengers on a low budget is not yet as before. The Check In was easy due to an "english" speaking receptionist. The rooms are clean and the beds in the rooms are very comfortable. All rooms at the first floor have two or three beds and can accomodate up to four people which would be nice for families too. Each room has an aircon and a wall mounted fan. The bathrooms are simple and somehow "rustical" but functional. There is a dormitory too, but I have not seen it and will therefore not comment on it. Breakfast and food can be ordered. Internet is free and stable. There is a beach 50 m away across the road. It could be a nice place but unfortunatelly it's a complete mess full of garbage, plastic waste and other rubbish. The regular Bus stopps in front of the Bagpackers but it is recommend to come with a Motorbike or rent one in Cat Ba Town.

Had a great stay at Woodstock beach camp. The facilities were very clean and the staff very helpful and friendly. It is a very good value for money. It is outside the main town but still a good place to explore the island from.

This is a great place to stay if you’d like to be an out of town. We rented scooters for the entirety of our stay which was more or less necessary since it is quite a distance to downtown. They have some on site services (food, drinks, laundry etc) but you’ll want to get out to see the best of what Cat Ba has to offer. The rooms were very clean and comfortable. They are, however, very close to the common area. There was music blasting endlessly, some good some bad, so if having some quiet moments is important to you, this may not be the place to stay.
