26.04.13 This is a historically important hotel built for the 1984 Winter Olympic games in Sarajevo. It was open during siege of Sarajevo (1992-1995), with mostly reporters and camera crews staying in. Designed by visionary architect Ivan Štraus for the 1984 Winter Olympics, Hotel Holiday is a prime example of bold postmodernism characterized by its cubic form and iconic yellow-ocher facade. The building was conceived as a "city within a hotel," featuring a monumental internal atrium and a snowflake-shaped fountain in the lobby that pays homage to its Olympic heritage. Its unconventional design and vibrant colors deliberately contrast with the surrounding socialist-era architecture of Sarajevo.
26.04.12 This iconic hotel hasn't lost any of it's charm since the 80's. Beautiful views of Sarajevo from most floors. The rooms are big, beds large and comfortable. The staff are very friendly. The breakfast is fantastic and a good selection of everything. Great for such an affordable price, can't ask for more. We will come back again. Highly recommended.
