The hotel rooms are lovely and beds are comfortable. Service is faultless. However, common areas are run down / poorly maintained (eg furniture upholstery is discoloured and worn out, the toilet flush near stairs / pool did not work properly, the baggage lift was not working). It is not elderly / disabled friendly. From the reception to the hotel block, there are a few steps which my dad struggled with, as there is no lift or ramp. There is an unsheltered/ uncovered baggage lift but it was not working during our stay.

So here’s my honest review of The Majestic Malacca. This wasn’t my first stay here. I stayed about three years ago and had a very pleasant experience. Back then, I found the hotel stylish, elegant, comfortable, and full of boutique charm. However, during this recent stay, I noticed a few issues that I genuinely feel the hotel management should look into. I stayed on the seventh floor facing the river, and the biggest issue was the poor sound insulation from the windows. My wife and I were awake at 1am because we could clearly hear motorcycles and traffic passing by outside. The noise was surprisingly loud, and it really affected our sleep. The windows feel very dated, and the rubber sealing seems to have worn out over time. Proper soundproof windows should honestly be the first and most important improvement. Another issue was the pillows. They were extremely soft and quite uncomfortable to sleep on. That said, I must compliment the housekeeping and overall room upkeep. The room was very well maintained and honestly looked like it had barely aged over the years. Now onto the breakfast. For a hotel at this level and price point, I do think the breakfast can definitely be improved. I had the classic breakfast, and the grilled beef simply didn’t look appetizing. The sausages were fried when I personally feel grilled sausages would have been much better. My family tried a few other dishes including the nasi lemak, and overall, the food was quite average. The omelette, however, was genuinely very good. This feedback is coming from someone who has travelled quite a bit and stayed in many hotels locally and overseas. I really believe these are areas the hotel should focus on improving — especially the room soundproofing and the breakfast quality. Even the juices served were not fresh juices, which honestly shouldn’t be difficult to provide at a hotel of this standard. Service at the restaurant was also quite slow, although it was obvious the staff were short-handed. The staff were constantly running around, and even ordering pancakes took a very long time. Overall, I still think the hotel has charm and character, but for the price guests are paying, the standards and experience should consistently match expectations. I genuinely hope the hotel takes this feedback positively and continues improving.
